バードハウスについて
バー ドハウスはパイン材などの身近な材料で簡単に作ることができます。バードハウスの底に小さな穴をあけるのを忘れないでください。雨や嵐で中に水が入っても、底の穴か ら水が出てバードハウスが水浸しになることがありません。厚めの板を使えば夏は涼しさを、冬には暖かさを保つことができます。それから、屋根の近くに細い 長穴をあけて、自然に換気するようにしてください。
The size of the opening is important. Make the hole slightly bigger than the size of the bird your would like to attract. Make the hole too big, and you may attract the birds that you do not wish for!
Do not make the perch too close to the entrance as it may invite predators, which may do harm to your smaller bird tenants. It is not a good idea to paint or stain your bird houses, especially the inside, as most paints are toxic for the birds.
バードハウスを作るうえで大事なのは、出入り口の大きさです。お越しいただきたい鳥のサイズよりほんの少し大きめの穴をあけてください。穴が大きすぎると、来てほしくない鳥を招くことになりかねません。
出入り口のすぐ近くに止まり木をつけないでください。鳥を狙う動物が鳥を攻撃しやすくなります。またバードハウスにはペンキや仕上げのステインを塗らないで下さい。ペンキやステインのほとんどは、鳥にとって有害ですので注意してください。
The Java Finch are very handsome birds, they look like they are wearing well-pressed tux all the time. I call them 'Tuxedo Birds' sometimes.
