Help Protect The Java Sparrow's Population
The wild Java Sparrow were considered as pest in rice fields, and were continuously persecuted and destroyed by the farmers. Its numbers crashed disastrously; they became extinct in Java, their native land.
Elsewhere, they were widespread and plentiful at one time. Due to habitat loss, pesticides, massive trapping for bird trade, and hunting for food, its numbers have crashed disastrously.
There is a quick decline in its population in the wild. This species is classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Specie and is listed on Appendix II of CITES
These charming, sweet birds are abundant in Hawaii. They flock in big groups, and argue among themselves and snuggled thightly in pairs, looking cute, beautiful, and lovable. They set up nests in big dense trees, and makehome under the eves of buildings.
Sadly, in Hawaii, they are also being exterminated in the wild, and treated as pests by local farmers .
I care for them in the wild daily, filling their bird baths with fresh water, giving them some nutritious seed that they love , and clean water that they crave to drink .
So they can enjoy being carefree, happy, and healthy, looking forward to their ' Happy Bird Hour ' everyday.... It is their divine right !
